Atlas Copco Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer – Centrifugal Compressors to drive the next generation of compressor technologies at our Wilrijk site in Antwerp, Belgium. You will collaborate across engineering disciplines throughout concept development, technology maturation, prototype validation and product release, while enabling field support and continuous improvement.

You will work in a hybrid setup, travel internationally as needed, and contribute to robust designs through DFMEA, FEA

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent through experience.
• Experience in design and development of mechanical systems or rotating equipment.
• Strong understanding of gears, shafts, rolling‑element bearings and hydrodynamic bearings.
• Experience with engineering calculations, finite element analysis (FEA) and rotor dynamics.
• Familiarity with DFMEA, design reviews and engineering risk assessment methodologies.
• Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering standards.
• Experience supporting prototype development, testing and failure investigations.
• Structured way of working with strong attention to detail and documentation quality.
• Ability to manage and maintain engineering BOMs and product structures.
• Strong team player with good communication skills.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch is considered an advantage.

• Develop next-generation centrifugal compressor technologies and products.
• Collaborate with specialists across engineering disciplines through the full development cycle.
• Translate complex challenges into robust design solutions and evaluate concepts.
• Perform design and analysis of rotating components, including shafts and bearings.
• Conduct FEA, rotor dynamics and design validation for reliable performance.
• Maintain product architectures, BOMs and design documentation for future generations.
• Apply DFMEA and design reviews to improve robustness and reliability.
• Communicate clearly with colleagues from technical backgrounds and document findings.
