Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• Professional experience in mechanical engineering and machine design.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD software; SolidWorks preferred.
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, tolerancing.
• Experience designing machines, mechanisms, or complex mechanical assemblies.
• Hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.
• Good communication and teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Experience with mechatronics, automation, pneumatics, or industrial machinery is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Design and develop machines, mechanical systems, assemblies, and components from concept through to production.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D manufacturing drawings.
• Develop mechanical concepts based on functional and customer requirements.
• Select appropriate materials, components, mechanisms, and manufacturing processes.
• Perform mechanical calculations and analyses to validate designs, including strength, tolerances, loads, and reliability.
• Work on moving mechanisms, structures, frames, drives, fixtures, and machine components.
• Build and evaluate prototypes, supporting testing and design validation.
• Identify design improvements and optimise for performance, manufacturability, assembly, and cost.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and production engineers on multidisciplinary machine development projects.
• Support transition from design into manufacturing and assembly.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues during prototyping, production, installation, and commissioning.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, drawings, BOMs, and other engineering docs.
• Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding components, machining, fabrication, and production requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of existing machines and products.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - ANTWERP REGION (BELGIUM) - PERMANENT POSITION

We're currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer to join an engineering team and take an active role in the design and development of machines, mechanical systems, and products. You will be involved throughout the full engineering lifecycle, from developing initial concepts and evaluating technical solutions through detailed design, prototyping, testing, and supporting the transition into production.

The role offers a varied mix of conceptual and hands-on engineering work. You will be responsible for translating functional and customer requirements into robust mechanical designs, while considering factors such as performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost, and ease of assembly. You will work on machine structures, mechanisms, moving components, fixtures, and other mechanical assemblies, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects from an early design stage through to completion.

You will work closely with colleagues across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and production engineering to develop complete and well-integrated machines. The role also involves troubleshooting and improving designs during prototyping, testing, installation, and production, making it well suited to an engineer who enjoys practical problem solving and seeing their designs become real, functioning machines.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop machines, mechanical systems, assemblies, and components from concept through to production.

Your Profile

• Professional experience in mechanical engineering and machine design.
• Strong experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks; experience with other CAD packages is also considered.
• Good understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerancing.
• Experience designing machines, mechanisms, or complex mechanical assemblies.
• Comfortable working on both conceptual design and detailed engineering.
• A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience with mechatronics, automation, pneumatics, or industrial machinery is an advantage.
