Role Purpose
We are looking for an experienced Logistics Manager to lead and coordinate all on
site logistics activities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of materials,
equipment, and resources to support successful project delivery.
Working closely with project teams, procurement, suppliers, and HSE, you will
oversee the planning, storage, and distribution of site resources while ensuring
compliance with quality, health, safety, and environmental standards. You'll play a
key role in maintaining efficient site operations, reducing waste, and driving
continuous improvement across our logistics processes.
Key Responsibilities
Site Logistics Management
- Manage day-to-day site logistics operations, including material deliveries, storage, and internal distribution.
- Plan and coordinate transportation and storage of construction materials and equipment to support project schedules.
- Ensure materials arrive on site in a timely manner to avoid delays to construction activities.
- Develop, implement, and maintain site logistics plans to optimise workflow and site efficiency.
- Ensure storage areas are well organised, clearly identified, and accessible.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with project managers, site engineers, construction teams, and procurement to align logistics with site requirements.
- Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to streamline deliveries and material movements.
- Coordinate scheduling and routing of transportation for materials and site operatives.
- Resolve logistics-related site issues and elevate where appropriate.
Inventory & Process Control
- Monitor inventory reconciliation processes to identify risks, manage obsolescence, and ensure appropriate reserves.
- Proactively monitor logistics systems and interfaces with external suppliers, identifying and correcting errors impacting material movements.
- Identify waste and inefficiencies to streamline processes and reduce excess materials.
- Continuously review and improve logistics processes, aligning with best practice and project needs.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in partnership with HSE to ensure logistics activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure Health, Safety, and Quality are at the forefront of all daily logistics activities.
- Support the construction team in monitoring logistics-related training for direct and contracted staff.
- Secure required permits for material transportation and site access where applicable.
Cost & Performance Management
- Manage logistics-related budgets, tracking costs associated with transportation, storage, and site handling.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining operational efficiency and safety standards.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing site logistics within construction or large-scale projects.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and suppliers across all aspects of logistics operations.
- Strong knowledge and practical experience of planning and organising site deliveries.
- Ability to work closely with logistics and construction teams to maintain delivery schedules.
- Hands-on, proactive approach with the ability to drive change and embed continuous improvement.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels on site.
Desirable
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
- Experience working on complex, high-activity construction sites (e.g. data centres, large commercial builds).
