Mercury GmbH is seeking an experienced Construction Site Logistics Manager to oversee all aspects of the logistics supply chain on a major construction site in Belgium. You will control material receiving, stores, and site facilities, while coordinating with planning, procurement and safety teams to keep the program on track.

The role requires experience with fast-track construction, strong leadership of a logistics team, and familiarity with SAP goods receiving and related processes.

• Manage on-site receiving of materials and SAP transactions.
• Oversee security, site signage, waste management and health & safety compliance.

Scope Of Role

The Construction Site Logistics manager is responsible for all aspects of the logistics supply chain, the Receiving of Material, Stores management, development, and optimisation of site logistics solutions to meet the needs of the project. They will be required to manage the movement of people, goods, equipment at the construction site and control site facilities management. Experience in Management of Fast Track construction necessary, including managing significant MIMO package.

Key Responsibilities of the Role

• Ensure early engagement with project planner; the commercial managers procuring the works and the senior construction manager on the site.
• Ensure that the construction team is fully aware of logistics activities in support of the build program.
• Anticipate and proactively resolve issues using internal and external resources.
• Discuss technical requirements and specifications.
• Independently consolidate and analyse information from various sources to develop complex logistics plans.
• Establish if required an off project staging area for intermediate deliveries.
• The Receiving of Materials and the carrying out of SAP transactions (Goods receiving etc.).

Planning & Programming

• Use Lean principles for all planning.
• Consider positioning of accommodation
• Additional site WC
• Parking
• Security and turnstiles
• Plan site set‑up, with Pre‑con team and input from PM, to move labour, plant, and materials around site efficiently coupled with planning internal and external logistics routes through the project phases.
• Pre‑plan the usage of key assets such as hoists to ensure planned assets meet the needs of the program. Ensure project sequencing is considered to optimise positioning.

Supply Chain Management

Ensure that the project has key involvement in the smooth operation of the supply chain both upstream and downstream.

Programme Support

• Embrace a delivery‑focused culture.
• Responsible for ensuring logistics activities are not a constraining factor on the program, where deemed unavoidable ensuring the issues are communicated in order that de‑confliction can occur.

Safety

• Ensuring the organisation’s safety policies are followed and enforce Mercury Safety ethos in all logistics activities.
• Create, maintain, and update the Site Emergency Plan (including the Site Fire Plan) reporting to the appointed site fire officer.

Site Communications and Signage

Ensure that there is an effective method of communication both verbal and visual to include the utilisation of 2‑way radio systems and all signage is accurate for information and communication.

Delivery Management

Ensure there is an effective system in place to manage and control the sub‑contractor and vendor inbound deliveries to the project.

Vehicle, Plant, Equipment and Vertical Transport

• Ensure Project based equipment is inspected, maintained, and tested to agreed frequencies.
• Implement and regularly utilise a competency test/checklist on plant handlers to ensure compliance with MER policy and EHS.
• Maintain an asset register of all equipment in collaboration with Group Procedures & SOPs.

Security

Ensure that all Access Control and security measures are implemented and managed to protect the project and personnel from external inference.

Workforce

Ensure capable managing a team of General operatives, and or material coordinator in carrying the requirements of the Projects.

Environmental

• Create, maintain, and regularly update the Site Waste Management Plan to ensure the safe and efficient removal of waste from the project.
• Create, maintain and regularly update the Project Commercial and Group materials management on the removal Scrap metals ferrous and nonferrous in accordance with SOP.

• Most assignments regularly require problem identification where analysis of situations or data are required to provide a solution.

Essential Criteria

• Directly related progressive experience with successful track record of ensuring that cost effective, quality goods and equipment are delivered on‑time to meet business requirements.
• Previous experience in Construction Operations.
• Degree or tertiary qualification in related field or equivalent work experience.
• Computer literate – Microsoft Office.
• Travel will be required for this position.
