Job summary

Wlgroup in Mons is seeking a senior technician to run, improve and secure a platform that delivers Infrastructure as a Service across on-premises, private and public clouds with a strong Linux focus.

You will keep IaaS services running, provision and troubleshoot RHEL/Oracle Linux, and build automation with Ansible and Bash while enforcing security controls. The role offers ownership of a platform with room for automation.

Qualifications

• 4 years of relevant experience or 6 years with a secondary qualification.
• Experience with VMware ESXi, blade and rack servers, and vSAN.
• Strong Linux and Windows administration incl. AD, patching and hardening.
• Red Hat Satellite, Ansible and Bash; Linux security incl. firewalls and MFA.
• Experience with public and private clouds and enterprise load balancing.
• Clear documentation and communication; certifications welcome.

Responsibilities

• Keep IaaS services running on-premises and in cloud.
• Provision, administer and troubleshoot RHEL/Oracle Linux 8–10 estates.
• Build automation and IaC with Ansible and Bash.
• Run OS upgrades, patching via Satellite and enforce security controls.
• Tune load balancers; manage CMDB and diagrams.
• Write procedures, reports; participate in maintenance windows and on-call.

A multinational defence organisation in Mons runs Infrastructure as a Service across on-premises, private and public cloud. It is looking for a senior technician to run, improve and secure that platform, with a strong Linux focus.

What you would be doing

• Keeping IaaS services running smoothly on-premises and in private and public cloud
• Provisioning, administering and troubleshooting RHEL and Oracle Linux 8 to 10 estates
• Building automation and infrastructure as code with Ansible Automation Platform and Bash
• Running OS upgrades and patching through Red Hat Satellite, and enforcing security controls
• Tuning load balancers, following change management and keeping the CMDB and diagrams current
• Writing procedures, reports and briefings, and joining maintenance windows and on-call when needed

What you would bring

• Higher vocational training with 4 years of relevant experience, or 6 years with a secondary qualification
• VMware ESXi, blade and rack servers and hyperconverged infrastructure (vSAN)
• Strong Linux and Windows administration, including Active Directory, hardening and patching
• Red Hat Satellite, Ansible and Bash, plus Linux security: firewalls and mandatory access controls
• Hands-on public and private cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and enterprise load balancing
• Clear documentation and communication; virtualisation, Linux or cloud certifications are a plus
