Ghent University invites applications for a post-doctoral assistant in the Department of Linguistics (30313). The appointee will devote at least 70% of the time to scientific research in their linguistic specialization, collaborate with existing research groups, and report findings at conferences.

The role involves annual workshops, potential ERC Starting Grant applications, and limited teaching/outreach contributions within the department.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in linguistics or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of postdoctoral seniority at appointment.
• Eligible to apply for ERC Starting Grant in 2027, 2028 and/or 2029.
• Excellent international publication record and research funding.
• Specialization in linguistics with opportunities for collaboration.
• Research with high methodological innovation and cross-disciplinary applicability.
• Specialization in languages included in Ghent University’s Language and Literature programme.

Responsabilités

• Conduct at least 70% of your assignment in scientific research within your linguistic area.
• Report research at scientific meetings and publish results in international journals and/or books.
• Collaborate with one or more research groups within the department.
• Offer an annual practical workshop sharing methodological expertise.
• Submit an ERC Starting Grant application during the three-year mandate.
• Contribute to teaching and outreach activities when needed.
