Materialise is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its Leuven headquarters. You will drive corporate reporting and compliance globally, including 20-F, EU annual reporting, and SEC/MAR compliance, while supporting M&A activities as needed.

You will also partner across Materialise groups in commercial transactions, balancing risk and business needs within a multinational, multi-language environment.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Law; strong academic track record.
• 5+ years post-qualification experience in-house or at an international law firm.
• Knowledge of corporate and securities law in Belgian, US and international contexts.
• Knowledge of commercial and contract law in an international business environment.
• Fluency in Dutch and English; additional languages are a plus.

To further strengthen and support our legal activities, Materialise is looking for a Legal Counsel to join the legal team at our headquarters in Leuven.

What You’ll Do

You will be the go-to person for corporate matters. As part of our dual listing on both Nasdaq and Euronext Brussels, you will be actively involved in our expanded corporate reporting activities (including 20-F, EU annual reporting, and SEC/MAR compliance), oversee our corporate compliance framework (including SOX and internal controls), and help ensure the good legal standing of the Materialise group worldwide. You will also be involved in larger corporate and M&A activities, when and as they arise.

In addition to your corporate role, you will have the opportunity to act as a Legal Business Partner within the Materialise group (Software, Manufacturing, Medical) in a customer-facing capacity. This will involve drafting, advising on, negotiating, and closing commercial transactions in close cooperation with various commercial, financial, and technical stakeholders, as well as with Materialise customers.

This is a Belgium-based but global role. Materialise has affiliates and customers all over the world, meaning you will gain broad exposure to a wide variety of assignments in different languages, some of which may have no precedent.

What We Seek

We are looking for a strong generalist profile who is comfortable with — and energized by — working on a wide variety of matters, often for the first time and frequently with interdisciplinary overlap. You have an innate sense of how to balance legal risk with business opportunity and can independently prioritize your work accordingly.

We are seeking someone with strong commercial and legal acumen, combined with the ability to think across topics and jurisdictions and translate solutions from one context to another. Beyond expertise, we are looking for someone who would be a strong fit within our team of four.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Law from a reputable university, with a strong academic track record. Knowledge of both civil and common law, acquired either through your degree or through equivalent professional experience, is an asset, as we work regularly with the U.S. and UK.
• At least 5 years of post-qualification experience, either in-house at an international company or at an international law firm.
• Demonstrated knowledge of corporate and securities law in a Belgian, U.S., and international context, acquired either through your degree or through equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial and contract law and its application in an international business environment.
• Fluency in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. Additional languages are a plus.
