Mobilexpense is seeking a Legal Counsel to act as the primary legal partner for the business across Europe. You will balance commercial opportunities with regulatory requirements while supporting growth in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

You will own commercial templates, drive contract negotiations, and build scalable legal processes with cross-functional teams, including HR and Compliance. This role requires strong English skills and a pragmatic, business-driven mindset.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Law.
• 2–3 years of relevant legal experience in a law firm or in-house.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is an advantage.
• Comfortable working independently with a pragmatic, business-oriented mindset.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with interest in technology and SaaS.

In this role, you'll be the go-to legal partner for teams across the company, helping us scale while balancing commercial opportunities with legal and regulatory requirements.

What you'll do

As our Legal Counsel, you will be THE legal business partner to advise and support stakeholders in their functions and the company's objectives.

Commercial Legal

• Own ALL commercial templates (MSA, reseller, referral, NDA, Professional Services Agreements, Addendums, etc..)

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts with customers, partners, and suppliers.

• Build and improve legal templates to scale efficiency in collaboration with the relevant team leaders.

• Assess legal, contractual, and regulatory risks while supporting commercial objectives.

• Advise internal stakeholders on balancing legal considerations with commercial incentives.

• Develop scalable legal processes and templates together with business teams.

• Deliver contract negotiation training, playbooks, and legal guidance to Sales and Customer Success teams to help accelerate deal cycles.

• Act as the primary legal contact for commercial and customer complaints when escalations arise.

Corporate

• Coordinate corporate housekeeping, including board meetings, annual general meetings, powers of attorney, and UBO declarations, together with external legal counsel.

• Collaborate with IP attorneys to manage trademarks and intellectual property matters.

• Support the HR team with office lease agreements and general employment-related legal questions where appropriate.

• Manage and implement the legal tech stack (e.g., Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) tools, e-signature workflows, and contract repositories).

Regulatory & Compliance

• Stay ahead of regulatory developments impacting the SaaS industry, including emerging EU legislation such as the AI Act and Data Act.

• Translate legal developments into practical guidance for internal teams.

• Draft and update contractual documentation to reflect new regulatory requirements.

• Work closely with our Compliance and Security teams to strengthen Mobilexpense's compliance framework.

• Support the Data Protection Officer with data protection matters, including DPAs, Records of Processing Activities (ROPAs), and data breach management.

• Assist HR and Compliance on broader compliance initiatives such as whistleblowing requirements, pay transparency, and other employment-related legislation.

What we’re looking for

• Master's degree in Law.

• 2–3 years of relevant legal experience, either in a law firm or as in-house counsel.

• Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch, French, or German is a strong advantage.

• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership.

• Pragmatic, business-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a growing international company.

• Interest in technology, SaaS, and European regulatory developments.

• Strong analytical thinking and AI proficiency: all team members are expected to demonstrate strong analytical capabilities and make smart use of AI tools, whatever helps them work smarter and drive results in their role.
