Job summary

FSMA in Brussels seeks a legal advisor in the “Supervision of lenders and intermediaries” department to strengthen consumer protection and public confidence in the financial sector.

You will lead a team of 3–4 people, provide technical support, help set priorities, and collaborate on drafting new legal and regulatory texts (EU directives, Belgian laws). Regular contact with other FSMA services and external associations is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in law; specialization in insurance/banking law is a plus.
• 3–5 years in insurance/banking or related financial law area; or 2+ years with strong affinity for financial law.
• Fluency in Dutch; strong written and spoken French and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 3–4 people for first-line supervision of supervised entities.
• Ensure smooth functioning of supervisory activities aligned with department strategy.
• Draft new legal/regulatory texts and consult with FSMA services as needed.
• Engage in external contacts with professional associations in the sectors under supervision.
