Job summary

DEME Group in Belgium invites a Design & System Integration Engineer to own multidisciplinary projects with a mechanical focus, coordinating electrical, hydraulic and control disciplines from concept through commissioning and first operations.

Based at our Zwijndrecht HQ with occasional travel to suppliers and vessel sites, you will lead design delivery, manage external partners, ensure interfaces align, and drive safe, practical, buildable solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Mechanical or Electromechanical engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant project engineering or lead engineering experience.
• Strong ability to coordinate multiple disciplines and external partners.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of mission equipment from initial request through commissioning and first operations.
• Engage with internal clients and stakeholders to define functionality and translate to design basis.
• Develop mechanical concepts, functional descriptions, preliminary calculations and basic drawings.
• Set up project approach, strategies, identify partners, coordinate execution.
• Manage external engineering offices, review designs for quality and integration.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary input across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control systems.
• Follow fabrication, resolve issues during construction and ensure alignment with design.
• Prepare test and commissioning plans, support activities and monitor performance.
• Monitor scope, planning, budget, risks, and documentation across lifecycle.
