Job summary

DEME Group in Belgium seeks a Technical Engineer – Dredging Systems to maintain and improve dredging equipment on our fleet. You will be based at our HQ in Belgium and support maintenance, repair, and reliability of critical systems on vessels, with occasional visits to ships, shipyards, and workshops.

You will work with engineers, vessel crews, and technical specialists to define repair scopes, develop methodologies, and ensure operational readiness.

Qualifications

• Min 5 years in technical engineering, maintenance, shipbuilding, heavy industry, or similar environments.
• Strong ability to read technical drawings and translate findings into practical maintenance solutions.
• Knowledge of steel structures, wear mechanisms, welding, and mechanical repair methods.
• Experience in maintenance engineering or shipyards is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support maintenance and repair activities for dredging equipment on our vessels.
• Develop technical work preparations, repair methodologies, resource plans, and safety docs for campaigns.
• Define and describe repair scopes for dredging systems including piping, steel structures, wear components.
• Analyze failures and recurring issues, contributing to continuous improvements.
• Prepare execution-ready documentation for maintenance and repair on vessels.
• Conduct technical assessments on board and during shipyard periods as needed.
• Collaborate with vessel crews, workshop teams, reliability engineers, and fellow engineers.
• Contribute to long-term reliability and performance of DEME’s dredging equipment.
• Stay informed on dredging tech developments and innovations in heavy mechanical equipment.
