CLdN is seeking an IT professional to manage and optimize our SQL Server environments in Azure, writing and reviewing SQL scripts and supporting database operations.

You will monitor performance, assist with backups, and troubleshoot issues while collaborating with Development and Infrastructure teams to ensure secure, reliable data services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or equivalent professional experience in database administration or data engineering.
• Solid foundation in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Good understanding of relational databases, data integrity, normalization and query optimization.
• Basic understanding of high availability, disaster recovery and database security.
• Interest in Azure and cloud-based database environments.
• Scripting and automation interest; PowerShell, Perl or Python is a plus.
• Analytical, accurate and motivated by solving technical problems.
• Hands-on, eager to learn and able to own tasks.
• Clear communicator who collaborates well with technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Good command of Dutch and English.

Within this challenging role, you are responsible for managing and optimizing our database environments, reviewing and executing SQL scripts delivered by the development team, and processing and analyzing data to provide operational and strategic insights.

Your role

• Support the management, maintenance and optimisation of our SQL Server database environments in Azure.
• Review and execute SQL scripts delivered by the development teams, initially with guidance from experienced colleagues.
• Assist in monitoring database performance, stability and availability and help investigate issues when they arise.
• Support backup and recovery activities and gradually build knowledge of business-critical database environments.
• Write and modify SQL queries, stored procedures, views and scripts to support operational needs.
• Help troubleshoot database-related issues and provide technical support to internal stakeholders.
• Work closely with Development and Infrastructure teams and learn how database changes are managed in a production environment.
• Develop your knowledge of database security, automation, Azure and modern database technologies.

Your profile

• Relevant IT degree and a first professional experience in database administration, data engineering or a similar technical role.
• Solid foundation in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio.
• Good understanding of core database concepts such as relational databases, data integrity, normalization and query optimization.
• Basic understanding of high availability, disaster recovery and database security principles.
• Interest in Azure and motivation to further develop knowledge of cloud-based database environments.
• Interest in scripting and automation; knowledge of PowerShell, Perl or Python is a plus.
• Analytical, accurate and motivated by solving technical problems.
• Hands-on, eager to learn and comfortable taking ownership.
• Clear communicator who collaborates well with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Good command of Dutch and English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of data warehousing, ETL processes and data modelling.
• Experience with SSIS, SSRS and SSAS.
• Knowledge of Oracle, PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Knowledge of Dynatrace, SolarWinds DPA, Databricks, Debezium or Kafka.
