Job summary

i4m is seeking an experienced IT Project Lead to drive a long-term application modernization initiative. You will coordinate cross-functional teams to improve performance, user experience and align with the organisation's digital ambitions.

You will structure initiatives, manage budgets and governance, guide delivery, and facilitate workshops with business analysts and architects to translate objectives into practical delivery plans.

Function

We're looking for an experienced IT Project Lead to join our client's team and drive a long-term application modernisation initiative. This role offers the opportunity to work at the crossroads of business, technology and organisational change, coordinating multiple teams to improve application performance, enhance the user experience and support the organisation's future digital ambitions. You will play a central role in structuring the initiative, ensuring alignment between stakeholders and guiding the delivery of a modernised application landscape.

Responsibilities

You will take ownership of the overall project coordination, acting as the connecting point between business stakeholders, development teams, business analysts and architects. Your responsibilities will include:

• Define and structure the project scope, breaking the initiative down into manageable phases, each resulting in a production release.
• Establish the project organisation, including budget planning, resource allocation and governance structures.
• Develop and maintain the project roadmap, adapting it as priorities and scope evolve.
• Coordinate activities, dependencies and interactions with other ongoing initiatives.
• Identify project risks, define mitigation strategies and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Prepare and lead steering committees, governance meetings and management reporting.
• Work closely with developers, technical leads, business analysts and architects to ensure smooth delivery.
• Facilitate alignment between technical constraints, architectural considerations and business requirements.
• Drive decision-making, prioritisation and collaboration across different teams and stakeholders.
• Organise and facilitate business workshops in collaboration with business analysts to clarify objectives, requirements and target processes.
• Support communication and change management activities to encourage adoption of new solutions and ways of working.

Your Profile

You have at least 5 years of experience leading IT projects, application transformations or digital modernisation initiatives, including at least one end-to-end application modernisation project. You are comfortable operating in complex, cross-functional environments and know how to bring structure, clarity and momentum to initiatives where requirements and responsibilities may evolve over time.

The ideal candidate brings:

• Proven experience managing application development and modernisation projects, working with internal or external development teams.
• Experience collaborating directly with solution architects, technical leads and product-oriented teams.
• Strong workshop facilitation skills and the ability to translate open discussions into clear, actionable business requirements.
• A good understanding of application architecture, technical debt and modernisation challenges.
• The ability to discuss estimates, technical risks and dependencies with development teams.
• Strong project management, IT governance and change management capabilities, including experience with steering committees and stakeholder reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a pragmatic, diplomatic and results-oriented approach.
• The confidence and technical credibility to engage with development teams while maintaining a strong focus on business value.

Experience with Microsoft technologies is an asset, while knowledge of .NET and SQL would be a plus.

Practical Information

• Location: On-site presence required 3 to 4 days per week, including Tuesdays and Thursdays. A stronger on-site presence is expected during the first two months to establish relationships with business and IT stakeholders.
• Languages: Fluent French is essential, strong English is required, and Dutch is considered an asset.
