Job summary

ASCO Deutschland GmbH in Belgium is seeking an IT Business Analyst to advise and support the business on IT applications, from requirements gathering to successful implementation in a defined area. You will lead IT projects, translate business needs into functional specs, and coordinate with analysts, developers and end users.

Fluent English and Dutch/French knowledge is preferred; strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or Engineering.
• Excellent English; French and/or Dutch knowledge preferred.
• Experience on business IT projects and strong analytical ability.
• Familiarity with ASCO business applications and development lifecycle.

Job description

For our Belgian plant we are looking for a IT Business Analyst.

He/she will advise and support the Business regarding the selection, use and enhancement of IT business applications in a specific area of competence and guide approved ASCO IT projects starting from business requirements gathering until successful implementation.

Accountabilities :

1. Project lead

Organize the project activities (under the responsibility of the IT Business Relationship and Development Manager) in order to gather the required information and to ensure on time delivery.

• Direct, organize, and lead projects to the implementation and use of the applications
• Support the business project managers with the planning, the follow up and reporting of the status of the project
• Report the Project status to the IT Business Relationship and Development Manager
• Report the Project status to the Business Project Managers

2.Business Requirements

Gather business requirements and analyze feasibility of deliverables timing and cost, translate these into an action plan in order to provide a realistic solution to the end user.

• Collect the business requirements by organizing assessment sessions with the key users
• Identify and describe the “To be” situation in order to deliver the business requirements
• Challenge the business on their needs and guide them to find the optimal business solution.

3.Design

Translate the business flow and requirements into a functional concept in order to allow application development in accordance with agreed upon specifications.

• Design the business and document process flows together with the different business stakeholders and key users.
• Translate the business flow and requirements into a functional concept
• Configure the functional concepts, if applicable with the selected application. (E.g. Configurations in Mapics, Config of AFS, Sharepoint, e-MO, …)
• Describe detailed functional specifications in case extra developments are required or interfaces need to be built with other applications

4.Build

Interface with Analyst-Programmers and external parties during the programming phase and/or develop defined functions or enhancements in order to contribute to the timely delivery of (enhancements to) applications.

• Develop defined functions or enhancements in case the BA has the required programming skills.
• Follow up development in order to deliver following specifications and due time

5.Testing

Test the developed applications in order to deliver error free solutions

• Set up detailed Test Plan and define the Test Scripts
• Perform the first unit tests and manage the user acceptance tests within a project
• Troubleshoot the applications
• Performance-tune the applications as necessary

6.Training

Train the Key Users in the use of the applications in order to ensure the best possible use of the applications

• Train and follow up the Key Users when required
• Help setting up user guidelines when required
• Edit the User Manual when required

7.Support

Deliver 2 nd and 3 rd line support to the end-users and ensure that basic 1 st line support can be given within the support team.

• Support the business during go-live and after go-live period
• Support the business team in scope control and change request management
• Support the first and second level support with functional or configuration questions in own competence area
• Deliver documentation of the business processes and related applications in your knowledge area
• Share knowledge within the support team
• Give general End-user support for the applications

Profile, knowledge and experience

Education: Master in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent by experience

Language: Good knowledge of English, Good knowledge of French and/or Dutch

Skills / Experience:

• Work in an analytical way refining the granularity in iterations from the helicopter view to the details
• Experience on Business projects
• Minimum 3-5 Years of relevant experience
• Conceptual Thinking
• Extended knowledge of at least some of the Asco Business applications or equivalent.
• In case of Business Analyst EDM >> Extended Knowledge of EDM
• Solid interpersonal and communication skills, Client & Quality Oriented
• Fluent writer for project documents like Business Process Document, functional and technical specifications, test plans
• Experience with development technologies (such as: C#, MVC.NET, Visual C++, XML, RPG, …) and databases (such as SQL and DB2) is an advantage
• Problem-solving abilities
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
