Job summary

Portima is Belgium-based insurtech seeking a Legal Counsel to ensure regulatory compliance with Belgian insurance rules. The role is the sole in-house legal expert, coordinating with IT Sourcing, Procurement and the DPO.

The candidate should translate insurance law into actionable guidance for Product, IT and Business teams. We seek a business-minded lawyer with strong contract review skills, GDPR knowledge, and experience advising on regulated products.

Qualifications

• Belgian Master's in Law required.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian insurance law incl. IDD and FSMA.
• Ability to review contracts and work with external counsels.
• GDPR/data protection knowledge.
• Familiarity with DORA and ISO 27001 is an asset.
• Experience advising on regulated products.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advisory & compliance for Portima solutions.
• Review and validate contracts with clients and partners.
• Oversee HR and IT/service provider contracts.
• Maintain contract templates with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate litigation with external counsels.
• Support regulatory research and product initiatives.
