Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in Wilrijk seeks a project engineer – calculation to analyze, size, and optimize mechanical and thermodynamic subsystems. You will run calculations to speed up machine design, define specs, and develop virtual models toward digital twins while collaborating with CFD/FEA teams and international facilities.

The role requires a engineering degree, passion for product development, and fluent English (Dutch a plus).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience.
• Passion for product development founded on strong technical knowledge, particularly in thermodynamics and mechanical design.
• Experience with mathematical modeling or simulation software (such as MATLAB and Simulink) is considered a clear plus.
• Fluent communication skills in English across all organizational levels; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, size, and optimize mechanical and thermodynamic subsystems.
• Define technical specifications for mechanical and thermodynamic systems.
• Run calculations to expedite machine design (heat/energy transfer, fluid mechanics, efficiencies, strength, vibrations).
• Develop virtual models toward full digital twins and partner with CFD/FEA teams.
• Define test programs, monitor prototype testing, and analyze field data to improve designs.
