Octave is seeking a Java Tech Lead to join the CIT team in Ghent, Belgium. You will provide technical leadership for backend development, coach the team, and help modernize a legacy software system while collaborating with a cross-functional group of developers, QA, and product owners.

In this role you will work in a multi-disciplinary, international team and help shape the technology roadmap, backend architecture, and strategic improvements. Fluent English is required; hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six years of Java back-end experience in a Senior Software development role, including at least two years in a Tech Lead or Architect position.
• Hands-on development experience with Spring / Spring Boot, JPA / Hibernate, REST APIs.
• Experience modernizing and modularizing legacy codebases.
• Excels at technical coaching and improving the team.
• Able to explain technical changes to product and business.
• Strong ability to organize work, set priorities and stay focused.
• Willingness to learn the business domain and balance functional vs. technical improvements.
• Fluent in English.
• Nice to have: Domain Driven Design.
