Job summary

G2 Recruitment is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to join a leading EPC contractor on a major petrochemical construction project based in Antwerp, Belgium, on a freelance basis. The role requires hands-on leadership of all HSE activities on site, ensuring compliance with legislation, client requirements, and project HSE standards.

The successful candidate will drive a positive safety culture, lead behavioural safety initiatives, and advise management and subcontractors on HSE matters.

Qualifications

• PA1/PA2/MVK/NEBOSH or equivalent
• Experience with EPC contractor, engineering firm or large construction organisation
• Strong petrochemical construction project experience
• Practical construction site background
• Good understanding of HSE management systems
• Experience implementing behaviour-based safety programmes and safety culture initiatives
• Right to work within the EU

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all HSE activities across the construction site
• Ensure compliance with local legislation, client requirements, and project HSE standards
• Promote a positive safety culture and drive behavioural safety initiatives
• Advise project management, construction teams, supervisors, and subcontractors on HSE matters
• Conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to HSE procedures
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Drive continuous improvement across all health, safety, and environmental processes
