Jan De Nul is seeking an HSE Advisor for Belgian projects in Charleroi. You will implement and monitor safety policies, work with site management, and ensure safety during large civil works.

The role requires Level 2 safety certification, 5+ years of experience, and fluency in English and French. You will join a dynamic team on challenging projects with a strong focus on safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 certification as a safety advisor.
  • Solid knowledge of safety procedures in construction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong English and French language skills.

Responsabilités

  • Monitor safety and progress of projects through risk analyses and inspections.
  • Consult with site/project management; engage foremen, workers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare reports and safety procedures; lead toolbox talks.
  • Develop project-specific documents (HSE implementation plan, emergency plan, inspection plan).
  • Organize safety training sessions and maintain incident logs on the platform.
  • Investigate accidents and track safety modifications to prevent recurrences.
  • Facilitate QHSSE audits and inspections with stakeholders.

Your Work ContextFor the region of Charleroi, we are looking for an HSE Advisor who has a good knowledge of both English and French. You will be involved in our prestigious civil projects such as the expansion of new data centers, the construction of the Defence headquarters, the Oosterweel connection, etc. As an HSE Advisor, you are also responsible for implementing and monitoring the safety policy. You work closely with site management and ensure that the projects run smoothly and safely.Your RoleIn the morning, you start the day with a tour of the site. You put on your personal protective equipment and have a chat with the site manager, before heading out to the site together: How is the project going? What's planned for the next few weeks and months? Have there been any difficulties or problems? Are there things you need to know or can help resolve?During your tour, you observe the work with the site team and check that safety agreements are being followed. You have a conversation with the people working there and you are interested in what they are doing. Is there a problem with the safety of the works? Then you address it diplomatically.A brief summary of some of your duties:You will monitor the safety and progress of the work for the projects under your responsibility at various stages of implementation by conducting risk analyses and safety inspections.To do so, you consult with site and project management and engage with foremen, workers and subcontractors.You prepare reports and develop safety procedures and toolbox meetings.You prepare project-specific documents (HSE implementation plan, emergency plan, inspection and testing plan).You help organize safety training sessions.You observe and analyze safety issues that occur on a job site and log them correctly through our platform. You also follow up on these incidents.You investigate accidents that occur on site.
