Job summary

CHEP in Bornem is seeking a Dutch and English-speaking Health & Safety Lead to own safety performance at the Bornem Manufacturing Plant. In this high-impact role, you'll partner with plant leadership, champion Zero Harm, and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

This senior role will shape behaviours, lead investigations, and drive continuous improvement across a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role within manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of local HSE legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• IOSH/NEBOSH qualification or Belgian Preventieadviseur Level 1-3 certification (or equivalent).
• Experience managing HSE systems, audits, and compliance processes.
• Data-driven approach to drive safety improvements and corrective actions.
• Experience leading incident investigations and preventive measures.

Responsibilities

• Lead and embed HSE management systems across the Bornem site, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Partner with plant leadership to drive Zero Harm culture and continuous improvement.
• Plan and conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor training, competency development, and safety performance metrics across operations.
• Coach, challenge, and engage teams to raise safety standards and behaviours.

Experience & Capability

• Proven experience in a Health & Safety leadership role within manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of local HSE legislation and regulatory frameworks.
• IOSH/NEBOSH qualification or Belgian Preventieadviseur Level 1, 2, or 3 certification (or equivalent)
• Experience managing HSE systems, audits, and compliance processes.
• Demonstrated ability to use data and insights to drive safety improvements and corrective actions.
• Experience leading incident investigations and implementing preventative measures.

• Monitor workforce training, competency development, and skills matrices to ensure capability and compliance.
• Champion wellbeing initiatives, including safety campaigns and occupational health programmes.
• Analyse HSE performance data, identifying trends and implementing targeted improvements.
• Take ownership of a critical safety leadership role within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
