Job summary

A well-established Belgian retail bank is seeking an experienced Head of Compliance to lead the compliance function across the region. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to shape and enhance the compliance framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of integrity.

You will develop strategy, oversee regulatory oversight, risk management, and financial crime controls, while engaging regulators, auditors, and senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Law, Economics, Finance, or related discipline.
• Extensive experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, risk, or financial crime in banking.
• Proven leadership of senior teams in complex regulatory environments.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian banking regulations and supervisory expectations.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Shape the compliance agenda with visibility to senior leadership.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance strategy.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and provide guidance to leadership.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks with robust controls.
• Engage regulators, auditors, and internal stakeholders.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the compliance team.
• Drive policy development and training programs.
• Monitor processes through end-to-end reviews for regulatory alignment.
• Oversee Financial Crime processes and sanctions.
• Monitor regulatory trends and adapt to developments.
