Job summary

Ghent University, in collaboration with the VIB-UGent Center for Inflammation Research, seeks a Principal Investigator to join its faculty in the field of Molecular immune mechanisms in urinary tract infections. The role combines research leadership with part-time professorial duties at Ghent University and a group leader position at VIB, aimed at advancing host-pathogen immunity.

Qualifications

• PhD in Immunology or related field.
• Published high-quality research in urinary tract immunology.
• Experience in in vivo infection models.
• Experience with advanced microscopy and image analysis.
• Ability to initiate and supervise research and obtain funding.

Responsibilities

• Build an independent research group within VIB and Ghent University.
• Develop and execute a research program on urinary tract immunity.
• Set up and utilize two-photon microscopy and single-cell omics.
• Collaborate across Ghent University, VIB and external partners.
• Lecture courses and supervise theses.
