DEME, a world leader in dredging and marine engineering, is seeking experienced 1st Mates to join its global fleet. You will serve on TSHD or CSD vessels under the Master's supervision, deciding how to perform dredging work and directing operations during your watch.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s in nautical sciences or equivalent, have several years in dredging as 1st Mate or Master, hold COC II/2, and speak fluent English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in nautical sciences or MBO-4/HBO maritime education.
• Experience as 1st Mate or Master in dredging for several years.
• COC II/2 certificate.
• Fluent English (speaking/writing).
• Strong awareness of Health, Safety and Environment.
• Hands-on, no-nonsense mentality.

Responsabilités

• Work on board a TSHD under the Master's supervision.
• Determine how dredging work should be performed in consultation with the Master.
• Direct dredging work and optimize production during your watch.
• Assess maintenance needs for dredging and auxiliary installations with the First Engineer.
• Communicate with project managers, site superintendents, surveyors and local authorities.
• Provide clear and balanced feedback to coworkers to support development.
