In4Matic in Belgium is seeking a Senior Java Developer to contribute to the development and modernization of critical business applications within a complex multi-system environment. You will work across greenfield and refactoring efforts, blending hands-on coding with architecture and integration tasks.

You’ll collaborate with analysts, leads, and other developers, participate in Agile ceremonies, and help drive testing, documentation, deployment, and reporting activities.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of professional Java development experience.

Function

We're looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our client's growing technology team and contribute to the development and modernization of critical business applications. You'll work in a complex and evolving environment where you'll have the opportunity to contribute to both greenfield development and the refactoring or transition of existing applications. The role offers a strong mix of hands-on development, architecture, integration, testing, and collaboration with technical and business stakeholders.

Role & Responsibilities

As a senior member of the development team, you'll contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing, deployment, and maintenance. Your responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain business applications and application components.
• Design and implement web services and integration components.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and the design of reusable components and building blocks, in collaboration with technical leads and software architects.
• Develop greenfield applications and contribute to the modernization or refactoring of existing solutions.
• Collaborate with analysts, business stakeholders, technical leads, and fellow developers to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, technical working groups, and user meetings when required.
• Contribute to testing, technical documentation, deployment, evaluation, and reporting activities.
• Support and guide junior developers when needed.

Technical Profile

You have at least 5-7 years of professional experience in Java development, preferably with a full-stack background, and are comfortable working in complex, multi-system environments.

Your technical expertise includes:

• Java and Spring Framework
• JPA and Hibernate
• Spring Security and security patterns
• SOAP and RESTful web services
• Spring Batch
• SOA, microservices, and CQRS
• Test-driven development and automated testing with JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, and Selenium
• Front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Angular
• Maven, Jenkins, Docker, OpenShift, Git or SVN
• Sonar, JBoss, Tomcat, and development environments such as Eclipse or IntelliJ
• Relational databases and object-relational mapping, with experience in PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server
• Jira and Confluence
• Ability to understand BPMN, UML, and structured technical documentation

Knowledge of technologies such as Talend, ZK, Oracle, or Kafka is considered a plus. Experience with Agile/Scrum, continuous integration, and modern software engineering practices is expected.

You combine strong development skills with a solution-oriented and customer-focused mindset and are comfortable taking ownership of your work. You work well independently but also integrate easily into an established team, with the ability to provide guidance to less experienced developers.

For communication, you have an active working knowledge of either French or Dutch, including understanding, speaking, writing technical documentation, and reading. You also have a good command of English for written communication and collaboration within the team.
