Job summary

Unknown Defence Organisation in Brussels seeks a GIS developer to build and extend its web mapping applications and the services behind them, working on site with the project manager.

You will develop web GIS apps, integrate spatial data, automate with Python, and optimize map performance for quick loading in a browser. On-site collaboration and documentation are essential components of the role.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of web development with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue.js or Angular.
• Hands-on work with a major web mapping SDK - layers, popups, custom widgets and client-side spatial operations.
• Python for geoprocessing and automation (ArcPy, GeoPandas, Shapely, Rasterio, GDAL/OGR).
• Backend services or pipelines that expose geospatial functionality.
• Git, Agile, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, IT or similar.
• Advanced English; some basic French is helpful.
