Eversheds Sutherland Belgium is seeking a Financial Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations for the Benelux region. The role covers month-end close, supplier accounting, expenses, VAT and tax support, audit preparation, banking, reporting and working capital management.

Fluent English with French required for Luxembourg-related work; Dutch is a plus. A finance qualification and experience in a multinational or professional services environment are essential.

Qualifications

• Finance qualification required (bachelor's or master's in accounting/finance).
• Strong general ledger experience with month-end close and reconciliations.
• Experience with VAT/support, multi-entity/currency environments, and audits is preferred.
• Proactive, collaborative approach with sound judgement on when to escalate matters.

About the Team

This role sits within the finance function supporting the Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg (Benelux) region.

The Benelux finance team is responsible for delivering accurate, well-controlled financial operations across the region. You will report into the Senior Finance Manager (Benelux) and work alongside another Accountant to jointly cover the full region.

The Role

We are looking for a Financial Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations.

This is a hands‑on role supporting the full range of financial accounting activity for the Benelux region, including month‑end close, supplier accounting, expenses, VAT and tax support, audit preparation, banking, reporting and working capital support.

What We’re Looking For

• Relevant accounting experience, ideally within a professional services, legal, consulting or international environment
• Strong general ledger experience, including reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals and month‑end support
• Good VAT knowledge, including experience supporting VAT returns and related reconciliations
• Experience working across multiple entities, jurisdictions or currencies, preferably within a Benelux or international structure
• Strong Excel skills and experience with finance systems; SAP, Concur and Power BI would be advantageous
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
• Confidence working with internal stakeholders, external accountants, auditors and service providers
• A proactive, collaborative approach with sound judgement on when to elevate matters

A finance qualification is required (e.g. bachelor’s or master’s in accounting or finance).

Language requirements

Fluent English is essential and French is required to support Luxembourg‑related work. Dutch would be an advantage.
