DFDS Belgium N.V. in Ghent is seeking a Finance Business Partner / Business Controller to support the Logistics division, focusing on warehouse and transport activities.

You will manage monthly close, KPI reporting and profitability analyses, and act as a trusted partner to management with strong analytical insight. Your seniority requires 5-8 years in finance/controlling, a degree in Finance/Economics/Business Admin, and proficiency in Excel and BI tools.

Responsabilités

• Maintain forecasts, monitor variances against budget, and highlight risks and opportunities.
• Develop KPI frameworks, dashboards, and profitability analyses for logistics operations.
• Support business development including tracking and investment cases.
• Act as a sparring partner to MD and management on financial matters.

The finance department of DFDS in Ghent is looking for a Finance Business Partner / Business Controller to support the Logistics division, with a primary focus on both warehouse and transport activities. In this role, you will be responsible for controlling tasks and finance business partnering for DFDS Belgium N.V.. You will provide analytical and financial support to business management, covering both operational and financial topics.

Specifically, your roles and responsibilities include the following:

• Ensure accuracy, transparency, completeness and timeliness of the monthly close: P&L statement per department, KPI’s and operational balance sheets.
• Driving performance management by identifying, preparing, combining and interpretation of relevant operational and financial parameters and KPIs on ongoing basis.
• Perform variance analysis reporting, produce insightful ad‑hoc reporting and deliver forward‑looking projections and scenario analyses.
• Maintain and update business forecasts, monitor variances against budget/forecast and proactively highlight risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
• Develop and support the KPI frameworks, dashboards, BI tools and profitability analyses (with a focus on transport and warehouse operations).
• Support on business development activities including tracking, support and follow up to local strategies and investment cases.
• Assist, develop and take initiative for all other financial business related matters, such as business and customer analysis, contracts and projects
• Initiate, develop and support initiatives for cost savings, revenue growth, margin improvement, new business.
• Being an active business partner and sparring partner for the managing director and management team for all financial and operational related matters.
• Take part in annual audit by external auditors
• Responsible for the KPI framework of the business, so variances in business can be measured.
• Assist Other BU continent finance business partners in the execution of their duties as appropriate.

Who are we looking for?

• You have at least 5-8 years of experience in a similar finance or controlling role.
• You hold a higher degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
• Excellent analytical skills and result orientation with high focus on quality
• You are critical‑minded, logical in your reasoning and comfortable combining both financial and operational data into meaningful insights.
• You are IT‑minded and excel has no secrets for you (pivot tables, lookups, etc.) and experience with BI tools, OneStream and/or Microsoft D365 is a plus.
• You have good communication skills in Dutch and English and are comfortable working in a multicultural, cross‑national team environment.
• You are proactive, work independently yet enjoy being part of a team. You have a personal drive, are outgoing and friendly, and you take personal responsibility — you understand the importance of deadlines and delivering reliable results.
