Elia Group is seeking an External Relations Advisor to enhance our external positioning by translating complex grid developments into clear messages for diverse audiences. You will work with internal experts, manage stakeholder relationships, and support spokespersons across multiple channels.

The role combines editorial and strategic duties, enabling you to shape external communication while growing into a trusted sparring partner for management in a dynamic energy landscape.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in communication, journalism, political or social sciences, economics, law, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in external communication or a similar role.
• Strong writing skills and the ability to simplify complex topics.
• Excellent command of Dutch and French, and good proficiency in English.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to connect experts and communication needs.
• Strong conceptual thinking and ability to manage communication projects end-to-end.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Function

As an External Communication Advisor, you will join a dynamic team working on the visibility and reputation of an organization that plays a key role in the energy sector. You will operate in an environment where societal relevance, technical complexity, and strategic communication intersect. In this role, you actively contribute to the development and implementation of the external communication strategy. You translate complex topics — such as developments in the electricity grid — into clear and accessible messages for diverse audiences. You combine strong content expertise with a results-oriented mindset. You work closely with internal experts, project teams, and external partners. You support and advise spokespersons and management by preparing them with key messages and relevant content. Over time, you grow into a strong strategic sparring partner for spokespersons. This is a versatile role in which you switch quickly between topics, stakeholders, and communication formats, with a direct impact on the organization’s external positioning.
