Barco in Kortrijk, Belgium is seeking an Expert Software Engineer to help shape a secure cloud data and AI platform that supports real-time decision-making for Control Rooms.

You will design and build scalable cloud backends, data lake architectures, and AI integrations while collaborating with product teams across international locations. English proficiency and hands-on cloud experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Experience designing cloud-native architectures at scale.
• Hands-on with proofs of concept, prototypes, and technical validations.
• Knowledge of cloud security, IAM and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with serverless, microservices and data lake architectures.
• Experience with multi-team, agile environments is an asset.

Expert Software Engineer (cloud, data and AI)

Location: Kortrijk, BE

Imagine shaping a secure data and AI platform as backbone for an intelligence engine for Control Rooms providing operators with solutions for real-time decision support and workflow automation.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to a cloud data platform within the Barco Control Rooms portfolio.
• Design, develop and maintain robust, scalable, and sovereign cloud backend solutions.
• Design and implement multi-layered data architectures and data lake solutions.
• Integrate front-end applications with server-side logic.
• Ensure system performance, reliability and data integrity.
• Write efficient, reusable and maintainable code.
• Develop and maintain automated tests to support software quality.
• Build, validate, and improve solutions through software development, technical investigations, proofs of concept, testing, and code reviews.
• Support with implementing AI architectures & designs with robust engineering
• Collaborate closely with developers, product owner and product manager to share ideas and knowledge.
• Promote a system-wide mindset across software components, teams, and development locations.

Your Profile

Experience & Knowledge

• Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent through experience.
• Proven experience designing and evolving cloud-native software architectures & cloud infrastructure operating at scale.
• Hands-on mindset with experience building proofs of concept, prototypes, experiments, and technical validations.
• Broad software engineering expertise, including serverless architectures, event-driven systems, microservices, APIs, and cloud platforms.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles, including scalability, reliability, observability, security, and cost optimization.
• Familiar with cloud devops & SRE
• Knowledge of cloud security fundamentals, identity and access management, data protection, and secure software development practices.
• Understanding of modern AI and machine learning concepts, including large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, model evaluation, and AI governance.
• Strong learning mindset with a commitment to staying current on developments in cloud technologies and artificial intelligence.
• Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain vision, trade-offs, risks, and technical concepts to diverse audiences, including executive stakeholders.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Google AI technologies such as Vertex AI, Gemini, and AI Platform is considered an asset.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
• Experience working in international development environments is considered an asset.
• Experience in large-scale agile environments involving multiple teams and product owners is considered an asset.
