Job summary

IDLO in Belgium is-seeking an EU Engagement Adviser to lead strategic engagement with EU institutions, government bodies in Brussels, and other stakeholders. You will shape IDLO’s EU engagement plan, monitor policy developments, and support resource mobilization and partnerships.

The role requires substantial experience with EU mechanisms, excellent written and spoken English, and willingness to travel. A postgraduate degree is preferred; Flemish/ French skills are an asset.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in political sciences, law, international relations, public administration or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years in international organizations with at least 6 years engaging EU institutions.
• Proven track record in resource mobilization and partnership development related to development, governance, justice, or rule of law.

Responsibilities

• Serve as IDLO’s focal point for EU engagement with EU institutions and Brussels-based stakeholders.
• Coordinate establishment of IDLO representation in Brussels.
• Develop and implement IDLO’s EU engagement plan aligned with organizational priorities.
• Identify EU funding opportunities and prepare high-quality proposals.
• Lead internal coordination on EU engagement and report trends to management.
