Michael Page International (Belgium) is seeking an experienced embedded firmware engineer to design, develop and maintain C-based firmware for next-generation embedded products in a global R&D environment.

You will work in a hybrid role, collaborating with international teams, performing testing, debugging and optimization, and supporting product releases and revisions across hardware platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering.
• 7+ years in embedded firmware development.
• Strong C programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers and embedded communication protocols.
• Proficient with UART, I2C, ADC, PWM, EEPROM, interrupts, timers.
• Debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Familiar with Git and standard SDLC tools.
• Knowledge of test-driven development an advantage.
• Able to collaborate with international teams; strong communication in English.

Job Description

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware using C programming for electronic control systems.
• Develop reliable and efficient software solutions for next-generation embedded products.
• Create and execute test plans and validation activities to ensure product quality and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to validate firmware on prototypes and production units.
• Perform root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and debugging of firmware and hardware integration issues.
• Optimize communication and interaction between embedded systems, peripherals, and control components.
• Work extensively with embedded interfaces and peripherals, including UART, I2C, ADC, PWM, EEPROM, timers, and interrupts.
• Support new product development initiatives, feature enhancements, and product releases.
• Manage firmware revisions, documentation, and engineering change activities.
• Utilize source control and issue-management tools to support structured development practices.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing teams during pilot builds and production deployments.

The Successful Applicant

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in embedded firmware development.
• Strong proficiency in C programming for embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience working with microcontrollers and embedded communication protocols.
• Solid understanding of UART, I2C, ADC, PWM, EEPROM, interrupt handling, and timer-based applications.
• Proven experience in debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of embedded applications.
• Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
• Experience working with issue-tracking and software development lifecycle tools.
• Knowledge of test-driven development or structured software testing methodologies is an advantage.
• Ability to work effectively with international engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capability, and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work in English-speaking environments.
