Biobest, based in Westerlo, Belgium, seeks a Design & Project Engineer Electromechanics to drive automation and technical development of our production environment. You will work on packaging, filling machines, mixing installations and custom automation solutions tailored to our processes.

The role combines design expertise with project management, coordinating with machine builders, suppliers and internal stakeholders to deliver fully operational equipment on the production floor.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in electromechanics or a similar technical field.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, automation or similar technical project environment.
• Experience in designing electromechanical systems and programming PLCs (Siemens).
• Hands-on mindset with the ability to manage entire engineering projects from scope to implementation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of materials (metal, plastics, electrical/mechanical/pneumatic components) and machine safety.
• Experience with 3D and electrical drawing packages; SolidWorks is a strong asset.
• Fluent in Dutch and English.

Responsabilités

• Map technical needs with stakeholders and translate into a clear project scope and specifications.
• Investigate available machines and technologies to determine best solutions for our production environment.
• Select and supervise suppliers, machine builders, installers and assembly partners.
• Critically assess proposals for design, safety, reliability and practicality.
• Adapt existing solutions or design parts when off-the-shelf options don’t meet needs.
• Monitor progress, timing and technical quality of projects and keep stakeholders connected.
• Follow installation and implementation on the production floor.
• Perform Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) and ensure safe delivery according to specs.
• Organize training for users and technicians.
• Ensure smooth transfer to maintenance and support with complex issues.
