ENGIE Laborelec in Belgium seeks an Electrical Expert to grow into a subject matter expert on primary equipment of electrical substations. You will join a team of about 35 experts, combining lab testing, investigations, and engineering to support ENGIE entities and external clients across battery, solar, HV transmission, and grid topics.

The role offers hands-on lab work, occasional on-site witnessing, and strong mentorship from senior specialists in a multinational setting.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Junior profile: trainee (from school) or up to 3 years of experience.
• Strong interest in MV & HV electrical equipment and substations.
• Affinity with hands-on, equipment-oriented engineering (lab + expertise).
• Working proficiency in Dutch and English; French is an asset.

Responsabilités

• Develop expertise in primary equipment of MV & HV substations (circuit breakers, disconnectors, terminations, surge arresters, cables).
• Perform root cause analyses (RCA) and failure investigations on switchgear for DSOs and the nuclear business line.
• Contribute to design reviews for BESS projects, solar parks, and HV transmission lines.
• Carry out laboratory testing, inspections, and technical assessments, with occasional on-site witnessing.
• Review technical documentation and provide independent expert opinions.
• Collaborate closely with cable and transformer experts, as well as renewable, nuclear, and international business lines.
• Grow into a key reference within the team, supported by experienced mentors.

Our team combines laboratory testing, technical investigations, and engineering expertise. We support ENGIE entities and external clients on battery and solar parks, HV transmission projects, nuclear activities, and grid‑related topics.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES as Electrical Expert
