European Space Agency (ESA) is seeking a Policy Officer in Brussels to support Earth Observation Programme activities within the EU policy context. You will engage with EC DGs, EP committees, and EU representations to identify opportunities for collaboration and ensure awareness of evolving legislation impacting EO programmes.

The role requires a Master’s degree and extensive experience in space policy and governance, with strong networking and public speaking abilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in space policy, law, engineering, environmental science or economics with 8 years of relevant professional experience.
• Ability to work autonomously and take initiative while maintaining effective internal cooperation and coordination.
• Experience in public speaking and presenting would be an asset.

Responsabilités

• Support the Directorate in developing and maintaining contact with the European Commission’s DGs involved in space R&I to identify new areas for cooperation.
• Monitor EU legislation relevant to Earth Observation programmes and communicate updates within the Directorate.
• Foster contact with EU Member States representations, EU Council presidencies, and European Parliament committees.
• Maintain contact with space associations and industry representatives in Brussels to promote common positions on EO assets and data use.
• Promote space policy debates in Brussels by engaging think tanks and organizing conferences and events related to Earth Observation.
• Support ESA staff seconded to EU institutions by keeping them informed of developments within the Directorate.
• Assist in implementing EO components of the EU Space Programme in liaison with EU institutions.
