Job summary

Pauwels Consulting seeks a Senior Domain Architect to own the architecture of a business domain within its central Architecture team. You will align business capabilities, processes and IT solutions, maintain the domain reference architecture, and drive simplification of a complex application landscape as part of a multi-year transformation.

The role is split between enterprise and solution architecture, with heavy collaboration across delivery teams and governance forums.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience in architecture roles.
• Master's degree in CS or equivalent.
• Certification such as TOGAF/ArchiMate.
• Business-oriented view translating needs into long-term direction.

Responsibilities

• Translate business needs into target architectures and roadmaps with delivery teams.
• Define and evolve domain and reference architectures per standards.
• Guide delivery teams on architectural decisions throughout initiatives.
• Define application integration principles and model APIs and data flows.
• Assess impact of changes on apps, interfaces, data and processes.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and modernise the landscape.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Data and other Architects for consistency.
• Maintain architecture documentation in LeanIX including capabilities, apps, interfaces and roadmaps.

Job description

Our client, a prominent organization in the health insurance sector, is looking for a Senior Domain Architect to own the architecture of a business domain within its central Architecture team. This role aligns business capabilities, business processes and IT solutions, maintains the domain reference architecture, and plays a key part in simplifying and rationalising a complex application landscape as part of a multi-year transformation roadmap. The work is split roughly evenly between enterprise and solution architecture.

• Understand business needs and objectives, and translate them into target architectures, roadmaps and concrete solutions together with delivery teams and stakeholders.
• Define, maintain and evolve the domain architecture and reference architecture in line with enterprise architecture principles and standards.
• Guide delivery teams in architectural choices and key decisions throughout the lifecycle of initiatives.
• Define application integration principles and contribute to the modelling of APIs, data flows and data exchanges.
• Assess the impact of planned changes on applications, interfaces, data, business processes and other architectural domains.
• Identify opportunities to simplify, rationalise and modernise the application landscape, promoting modular and maintainable architectures.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Data and other Domain Architects to ensure overall solution consistency, and take part in architecture governance forums.
• Maintain complete and up-to-date architecture documentation in LeanIX, covering business capabilities, applications, interfaces, data flows, dependencies and roadmaps.

• You have 10+ years of IT experience, including significant experience as a Domain Architect, Application Architect, Solution Architect or in a similar role.
• You hold a Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent through experience.
• You hold an architecture certification such as TOGAF, ArchiMate or equivalent.
• You bring a functional, business-oriented view of architecture and translate business needs into long-term architectural direction, while holding your own in technical discussions.
• You possess a strong understanding of modern application architectures, distributed systems and integration models.
• You have good knowledge of Domain-Driven Design, Hexagonal Architecture, API-First, CQRS, Event-Driven Architecture and integration patterns.
• You bring experience with architecture governance, standards definition and supporting teams in their adoption.
• You have experience with an Enterprise Architecture Management tool such as LeanIX.
• You have good knowledge of Agile, DevOps and product-oriented organizations.
• You're pragmatic and down-to-earth, with strong communication skills towards business, technical and management stakeholders.
• You are fluent in English.

Nice to Haves

• Experience in the insurance, health insurance or mutuality sector.
• Hands-on experience with LeanIX.
• Experience with simplification or rationalisation of legacy application landscapes.
• Knowledge of French and/or Dutch.

• Duration: 6 months, with possible extension
