Motion Picture Association in Brussels is seeking a Director, European Affairs to represent the association on EU policy matters, with a focus on supporting the audiovisual sector. You will build relationships with MEPs, EU officials and stakeholders, leading advocacy and coalition-building across Europe.

Qualifications

• We are looking for an experienced and highly effective public affairs professional with a combination of political judgment, policy expertise and strong relationships across the EU institutions.
• The successful candidate will ideally bring:
• An established network across EU institutions and Brussels policy community, particularly within the European Parliament.
• A strong track record in EU public affairs, lobbying or advocacy, with a minimum of 8 years' relevant experience.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to initiate conversations and build long-term relationships.
• Strong political judgment and understanding of EU decision-making processes.
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including industry, policymakers and civil society.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative and identify opportunities for advocacy.
• Collaborative approach and ability to work with colleagues, MPA members and external partners.
• Knowledge of media, audiovisual, copyright and/or internal market policy is desirable.
• An advanced degree in law, public policy, business or a related field.

Responsabilités

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Director, European Affairs, will represent the Motion Picture Association in diverse policy matters, with a particular focus on EU affairs. The broad objectives of this work will be to support MPA members by promoting actions and policies that support and sustain creativity and contribute to the success of the audiovisual sector. The successful candidate will be a politically astute, highly engaging public affairs professional with a strong network across the Brussels policy community and the ability to build trusted relationships quickly. The role will involve extensive engagement with MEPs, political advisers, EU officials, coalition partners, and other actors across the Brussels policy environment.

ROLE DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Advocacy and Coalitions

• Lead and support MPA advocacy on priority EU policy issues, working closely with the Senior Vice President, Head of Policy and colleagues across the MPA EMEA Policy Team.
• Maintain and expand a strong network across the European Parliament and wider Brussels institutional and stakeholder community.
• Build trusted relationships with political and institutional stakeholders and develop new relationships rapidly where required.
• Build and maintain coalitions and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Represent MPA in meetings, events, hearings, conferences and other policy fora.

Policy and Political Strategy

• Provide senior-level political and policy insight to members and MPA EMEA Policy Team.
• Contribute to the development of advocacy strategies on EU public policy issues affecting the audiovisual and creative industries, including media, copyright and internal market regulation.
• Monitor political developments and assess their potential implications for MPA members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Strong political judgment, including an understanding of how decisions are made within the EU institutions and how to identify and engage the people who can influence those decisions.
• A demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including industry, policymakers and civil society.
• The ability to work independently, take initiative and identify opportunities for advocacy without waiting to be directed.
• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, MPA members and external partners.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of media, audiovisual, copyright and/or internal market policy is desirable.
• An advanced degree in law, public policy, business or a related field.

Based in Brussels. Frequent travel within the region.
