Eligo Recruitment is assisting an international engineering and design consultancy in Belgium to recruit a senior design and project lead for Mission Critical Facilities. You will guide a multidisciplinary team and manage scope, budget, and contracts across European, African and Asian projects.

The role combines design leadership with commercial ownership, requiring strong 3D/BIM capabilities and fluency in English and Dutch as you liaise with internal and external stakeholders throughout

Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or comparable technical field.
• Around five years managing and coordinating multidisciplinary design projects, ideally data centres or industrial buildings.
• Experience leading design teams across internal and external stakeholders.
• Fluent English and Dutch.

You're probably wondering: is this a design role or a management role? It's both, and the balance matters. You'll be leading a design team and owning the commercial side, scope, budget and contract documentation, while staying close enough to the 3D and BIM models to know whether what the team is producing can actually be built.

Who would you be working for?

An international engineering and design consultancy. The Mission Critical Facilities team sits within plant engineering, and the work covers data centres and industrial buildings for operators across Europe, Africa, Asia and the UK.

Who would you be working with?

Belgian and international teams on the same models, plus external partners and, during execution, the client directly. You would be their technical contact.

What would a typical project involve?

• Managing scope, design budget and contract documentation
• Preparing and monitoring the design schedule and allocating work across the team
• Coordinating design between the Belgian and international teams
• Optimising the design across disciplines and external partners
• Running design reviews and controlling design changes
• Developing design concepts and presenting them to clients and project teams

What do you need to be considered?

• Master's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or a comparable technical field
• Around five years managing and coordinating multidisciplinary design projects, ideally data centres or industrial buildings
• Experience leading design teams across internal and external stakeholders
• Strong 3D design and BIM skills, particularly BIM 360
• Knowledge of design standards, regulations and construction practice
• Fluent English and Dutch

French is a bonus rather than a requirement.

What does it pay?

€60,000 to €100,000 base salary depending on background and level, with a full fringe benefits package on top and 32 holiday days. Hybrid working, and genuine freedom to shape where your career goes next.
