Job summary

A multinational defence organisation in Mons is seeking a senior systems engineer to design deployable systems, automate them and be the go-to expert when things refuse to behave.

You will work in a DevOps team: CI, automated deployment and monitoring, and you will lead as the senior engineer for incidents, requests and problem management. You will also document designs and train colleagues on the job, on-site or remotely.

Qualifications

• 5+ years deploying and supporting deployable or large enterprise environments.
• Experience with centralized storage and hyperconverged tech (VMware/vSAN).
• Strong Windows Server and Linux administration skills.
• Expertise in Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy.
• Proficiency in Bash/PowerShell and automation tools.
• Familiarity with ITIL Service Transition processes.

A multinational defence organisation in Mons runs deployable communication and information systems: servers, storage and directory services that are packed up, shipped and switched on wherever they are needed. It is looking for a senior systems engineer who designs these systems, automates them and is the person others call when something refuses to behave.

What you would be doing

• Contributing to the design, build and delivery of deployable systems engineering projects
• Working in a DevOps team: continuous integration, change management, automated deployment and monitoring
• Acting as the senior engineer and final problem solver for incidents, requests and problem management
• Supporting the technical planning and running of exercises, on-site or remotely
• Documenting designs, implementations and troubleshooting guides, and training colleagues on the job
• Leading technical support teams on projects and exercises, and standing in for senior staff when needed

What you would bring

• At least 5 years supporting deployable or large enterprise environments
• Centralised storage (FC, iSCSI, SAS) or hyperconverged technology such as vSAN, plus VMware ESXi and vCenter
• Recent Windows Server and Red Hat Linux, high availability (failover clustering, DAGs, stretched clusters) and patching
• Expert Active Directory across federated domains and forests, DNS, server hardening and Group Policy
• Remote Desktop or similar application provisioning
• At least 3 years in a DevOps team with Bash or PowerShell and automation tools, solid TCP/IP and ITIL Service Transition
