WLG in Belgium is seeking an engineer to manage the day-to-day information and communications systems—servers, end-user devices, network services, and the discipline of keeping a secure, patched estate. You will configure and manage systems, networks and devices, provide technical support to users, deploy security fixes, and write the documentation and SOPs that keep operations reproducible.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years delivering and maintaining end systems in a large organisation.
• Hands-on configuration of both hardware and software.
• Experience with production virtualization (VMware vSphere or Hyper-V).
• Windows servers and clients across distributed sites.
• Experience with Exchange and enterprise messaging.

A multinational defence organisation needs an engineer for the day-to-day of its information and communications systems — the servers, the end-user devices, the network services underneath them, and the discipline of keeping a secure estate patched and documented.

What You Would Be Doing

• Configuring and managing systems, network and end-user devices day to day.
• Providing technical support to the people who use them.
• Deploying and monitoring operating system and application security fixes across the estate.
• Writing and maintaining the technical documentation and standard operating instructions that let someone else do the same work.
• Running the central antivirus solution and keeping devices compliant with it.
• Troubleshooting infrastructure problems and carrying out regular maintenance.

What you would bring

• At least two years implementing and maintaining end systems inside a large organisation.
• Extensive hands-on configuration of both hardware and software.
• Virtualisation in production — VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Windows environments at scale: servers and clients across distributed sites.
• Network infrastructure management, and the enterprise services that sit on it — directory, name resolution and the rest of what quietly holds a business up.
• Collaboration platforms such as Exchange and enterprise messaging.
• Scripting in PowerShell or Python to automate deployment and routine administration.
• Enough database and metadata understanding to configure systems that have to interoperate.
• The independence to solve a problem rather than elevate it.
