Job description

I'm looking for a Senior Data Governance expert for a financial services organisation based in Brussels. This role is a contract, initially until the end of 2027. It also requires 2/3 days a week on-site in Brussels. If that all works for you, please read on;

Are you passionate about data integrity, governance and driving a data-by-design culture? I'm looking for a proactive Data Manager to become the ultimate data governance ambassador within this team.

In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of data quality, ensure regulatory compliance (GDPR, BCBS 239) and champion sustainable data solutions.

What you will do:

• Drive Accountability: Own the quality, integrity, and protection of data from origination to regulatory reporting.
• Mitigate Risk: Define data controls, monitor quality indicators and manage data lineage using internal tools (Wikidata).
• Champion Culture: Coach team members on Data-by-Design principles and advocate for migrating tactical fixes into structured, sustainable applications.

What we are looking for:

• Strong expertise in data governance, data quality management and lineage tracking.
• Solid understanding of financial and privacy regulations (BCBS 239, GDPR).
• An analytical, collaborative mindset with excellent communication and coaching skills.

You will need to have strong English, French and Dutch language skills to be considered for this role, have at least 5 years of data management, governance or risk reporting and 7 years of overall experience, ideally with a track record in banking/financial services.
