act digital is an international consulting and engineering group seeking a Data Governance Specialist to join its data governance team in Brussels. You will help define and drive the Data Governance roadmap, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and regulatory priorities.

Collaborating with CISO, DPO, Legal, Risk and Security, you will develop governance processes, monitor compliance, and lead the Data Governance Community to improve data quality, lifecycle management and regulatory

Qualifications

• 3-4 years of experience in data governance, data management or IT governance.
• Experience working in regulated and/or complex organizational environments.
• Strong exposure to cross-functional collaboration between business, IT, architecture, and platform teams.
• Familiarity with data product concepts, master data, data quality frameworks, and regulatory compliance (GDPR, EU Data Act, AI Act).
• Comfortable interacting with both senior business stakeholders and technical experts.
• Technical understanding of modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, DBT, AWS).
• Hands-on knowledge of data catalog, data quality, lifecycle management, and BI tools.

• Ensure GDPR, data retention, access control, and privacy-by-design compliance; support regulatory controls
• Coordinate with CISO, DPO, Legal, Risk and Security teams to strengthen data compliance
• Develop and optimize data governance processes; analyze non-compliance and governance gaps; implement corrective actions
• Execute governance activities: term docs, data classification, metadata, lifecycle, and quality rules
• Design and enforce policies aligned with GDPR, NIS2, Data Act and sector regulations
• Define roles, responsibilities, and governance bodies
• Provide training and guidance to data roles
• Lead Data Governance Community
• Chair Data Governance Board
• Analyze and redesign data processes for efficiency and accuracy
• Coordinate with platform/architecture teams to embed governance-by-design in tools and architectures
• Drive adoption of governance practices across the organization
• Foster data-driven culture across all levels; build capability and awareness
• Create training materials and articles
• Define KPIs for governance activities and objectives
• Monitor adoption and results
• Represent Data Governance in strategic programs and steering committees

Job Description :

You will join our team of experts in data governance.

Your responsibilities will include:

Data Governance Roadmap

• Define, maintain, and communicate the Data Governance roadmap, aligned with business objectives and regulatory priorities

Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

• Ensure compliance with Data Act and other applicable legislation
• Ensure compliance with GDPR, data retention, access control, and privacy-by-design principles, and support the implementation and monitoring of related data protection and regulatory controls
• Coordinate with CISO, DPO, Legal, Risk, and Security teams to support and strengthen data compliance management activities across the organization

Governance

• Develop, monitor, and optimize data governance processes and controls, analyzing non-compliance issues and governance gaps to define and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Ensure proper execution of governance activities including business term documentation, data classification, metadata maintenance, data lifecycle management and data quality rule definition
• Design and enforce enterprise-wide policies, procedures and standards aligned with GDPR, NIS2, Data Act, etc. and sector-specific regulations

Data Ownership & Community Leadership

• Define clear roles, responsibilities, and governance bodies
• Provide training and guidance to data roles
• Lead the Data Governance Community
• Chair the Data Governance Board

Business Process Optimization and Change Management

• Analyze and redesign data-related processes for efficiency and accuracy
• Coordinate with platform and architecture teams to integrate governance-by-design principles into tools, platforms, and technical architectures
• Drive adoption of new governance practices across the organization

Training & Data Literacy

• Foster a data-driven culture by building capability and awareness at all levels (starting from data roles to business and management)
• Contribute to creation of training materials, articles, etc.

Maturity Assessment and Reporting

• Define KPIs for data governance activities and data governance objectives,
• Monitor adoption of new practices and results

Representation

• Represent Data Governance in strategic programs, initiatives, and steering committees

Profile / Requirements :
