Job summary

EY Belgium’s Modern Data Platform team is seeking a Data Engineer to lead the team, define data architecture, and build scalable pipelines on Snowflake, Databricks, and Fabric across cloud environments.

You will drive design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines, ensure CI/CD health, and mentor data engineers while collaborating with senior leaders on client engagements. Fluency in Dutch or French and strong English are required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or another relevant subject.
• Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Data Engineering & Cloud platforms.
• Fluent in Dutch and/or French, proficient business English.
• Experience with batch and real-time processing frameworks.
• Expertise in proactive performance monitoring, conducting data quality testing.
• Experience in assembling data from multiple sources and analyzing and modelling complex datasets.
• Hands‑on Experience with Cloud data platforms like Snowflake, databricks, fabric.
• Practical knowledge of cloud possibilities and limitations in areas like distributed systems, load balancing, networking, massive data storage, and security.
• Understanding of data architecture concepts such as data modelling, Big Data storage, Lambda architecture, data vault, and dimensional modelling, Data Fabric and Data Mesh is nice to have.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem solver.
• Strong communicator who understands team dynamics, able to support where needed and lead when asked.
• Experience in leading and coaching technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead clients discussions from defining the problem to advising on the solution and supporting implementation.
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of efficient data pipelines.
• Create robust data products leveraging Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, Fabric.
• Use cloud services to build scalable, reliable data solutions.
• Translate data and analytics requirements into data solutions based on technical designs.
• Enable test automation and ensure CI/CD pipelines are healthy.
• Implement monitoring of data applications and track product quality, performance, and stability.
• Carry out technical design reviews to ensure proper architecture patterns.
• Provide guidance on industry trends and best practices.
• Lead a team of Data Engineers and promote teamwork and skill enhancement.
