bpost is seeking a Senior Data Architect to define and implement the enterprise-wide data architecture, shaping structures, governance, and a strategic roadmap across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

You will collaborate with IT, analytics and business leaders to ensure data is accessible, secure, and ready for AI, real-time analytics, and GDPR compliance. Two days per week in the hybrid office are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 8+ years of experience in large-scale data architecture.
• 3+ years in a senior or enterprise role.
• Strong hands-on expertise in cloud and hybrid data architecture.
• Deep knowledge of data modelling techniques, ETL/ELT pipelines, automation (CI/CD, Airflow).
• Experience with streaming data (Kafka, Flink).
• Familiarity with Snowflake, Databricks, DBT.
• Understanding of data security, MDM, data mesh and metadata management.
• Excellent communication in English; French and/or Dutch a plus.
• 2 days per week hybrid office presence.

• Lead data modelling across OLTP/OLAP domains (conceptual, logical, physical models).
• Define and implement data standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
• Guide data platforms architecture to support self-service, AI, dashboards and real-time streaming.
• Partner with Data Engineers, Analysts, Architects and Business stakeholders to ensure data quality and lineage.
• Mentor junior data architects and engineers; contribute to a strong data architecture community.

What will you do?

As a Senior Data Architect, you will be responsible for defining and implementing the enterprise-wide data architecture that supports critical business initiatives and drives data-driven decision-making. You’ll shape the structure, governance, and strategic roadmap of data assets across the organization—ensuring data is accessible, secure, integrated, and aligned with evolving business needs. You’ll collaborate with senior stakeholders in IT, analytics, and the business to architect scalable data solutions across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments—balancing innovation with long-term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve enterprise data architecture, aligning with business strategies and regulatory requirements.
• Lead data modelling efforts across operational and analytical domains (OLTP/OLAP), including conceptual, logical, and physical models.
• Promote a hands‑on, pragmatic approach towards data architecture and the overall team dynamic
• Define and implement data standards, policies, and governance frameworks.
• Guide the architecture of data platforms, support self‑service, AI, Dashboarding and real‑time streaming solutions.
• Partner with Data Engineers, Analysts, Architects, and Business stakeholders to ensure data quality, accessibility and lineage.
• Influence senior stakeholders and business owners across the organisation (38K, global)
• Evaluate and recommend technologies and tools for data integration, storage, cataloguing, and analytics.
• Ensure data architecture enables AI/ML, advanced analytics, and reporting initiatives.
• Support compliance with GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulatory standards depending on the region/industry.
• Provide architectural oversight and leadership across data‑related projects and programs.
• Mentor junior data architects and engineers, contributing to a strong data architecture community.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in large scale data architecture or related fields (over 100m events); 3+ years in a senior or enterprise role.
• Strong hands‑on expertise in data architecture design for cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environments.
• Deep knowledge of data modelling techniques, ETL/ELT pipelines, automation (CICD scripting, Airflow…) and data lifecycle management.
• Experience with streaming data is a strong asset (Kafka, Flink…).
• Experience with Semantic integration and Ontology also assets.
• Familiarity with modern data stacks: Snowflake, Databricks, DBT, etc.
• Understanding of data security, master data management (MDM), data mesh, and metadata management.
• Excellent communication (business fluent English, French and/or Dutch are a plus) and leadership skills with the ability to translate complex data topics for business audiences.
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments is a plus.
• 2 days per week (minimum) hybrid office presence.
