IEEP is seeking a Communications Officer to provide maternity cover for eight months, starting mid-October 2026. The role involves coordinating daily communications activities, supporting external visibility, and engaging with internal teams on policy-relevant content.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in communications, English fluency, and experience with WordPress/HubSpot. The position is based in Brussels with a hybrid work model and ends after eight months with possible extension.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in communications, preferably within EU policy/NGO.
• Interest in European environmental and sustainability policy.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Knowledge of HubSpot, WordPress and Elementor is necessary
• Experience producing and editing content for websites, newsletters and social media.
• Knowledge of digital tools and platforms; experience with newsletters is a plus.
• Experience creating engaging visual content for digital channels.
• Ability to work in a small, international, fast-paced organisation.

IEEP is seeking a Communications Officer to provide maternity cover for a period of eight months with the possibility of extension, starting mid-October (or early-November 2026 at the latest).

The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery and coordination of IEEP’s communications activities, working closely with colleagues across our research teams, and supporting IEEP’s external visibility and strategic engagement.

Location: Brussels (hybrid office/home)
Contract: Fixed-term maternity-cover contract for 8 months under Belgian law
Anticipated start date: Mid-October, or by early November 2026 at the latest

Skills and Qualifications required

• Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience in communications, preferably within the EU policy, sustainability, think-tank, NGO or related environment;
• An interest in European environmental and sustainability policy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with professional or native-level written and spoken English;
• Knowledge of HubSpot, WordPress and Elementor is necessary
• Experience producing and editing content for websites, newsletters and social media;
• Good knowledge of digital communications tools and platforms. Experience with WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite and mass-mailing/newsletter platforms would be an advantage;
• Experience creating engaging visual content and promotional materials for digital channels;
• Ability to work effectively in a small, international and fast-paced organisation
