European Defence Agency (EDA) in Brussels seeks a Communication Consultant to design and implement the Agency’s communication strategies. Based on short-term assignments, you will work closely with senior representatives in this strategic sector to ensure clear, timely messages across channels.

You will coordinate media relations, align content with EU defence policies, and monitor KPIs to improve campaigns.

Qualifications

• Experience in consulting and coordinating media and communication services for public sector clients, including EU projects in defence.

• English proficiency at C2 level with strong writing/editing abilities.

Support the European Defence Agency in developping its communications strategy and media relations.

About this position

As a Communication Consultant for the EDA, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing the Agency’s communication strategies. The position is based on short-term assignments of several weeks per year, giving you the opportunity to work closely with senior representatives in this strategic sector.

You will help ensure that key messages are effectively conveyed through the EDA’s main communication channels, including high-level meetings and working groups, its website and intranet, social media, newsletters and publications, as well as through European media at both pan-European and national level.

The challenge

• Strategic Development: Design and oversee communication strategies tailored to EDA priorities, campaigns, and actions.
• Policy Alignment: Ensure all communication activities comply with EDA's internal guidelines and external action frameworks.
• Content Planning: Develop messaging frameworks, editorial calendars, and integrated communication plans for diverse platforms and audiences.
• Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with EU Defence representatives, stakeholders, partner organizations, and communication teams to achieve strategic goals.
• Performance Monitoring: Define KPIs, monitor campaign outcomes, and propose improvements based on data-driven insights.

Skills required

• Experience: At least 5 years of experience in consulting and coordinating media and communication services for public sector clients, including EU-related projects or campaigns in the area of defence (the sector experience is key).
• Knowledge: In-depth understanding of EU Defence policies and challenges.
• Language Skills: C2-level English proficiency with strong writing and editing capabilities.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to conceptualize and execute comprehensive communication plans.
• Adaptability: Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams in fast-paced, multicultural environments.
• Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with digital communication tools, content management systems, and social media platforms.
