Job summary

Harvey Nash is seeking a Senior Google Cloud Foundation Engineer to build a new Google Cloud platform in Mechelen. The role focuses on delivering a scalable foundation, with emphasis on GCP, IAM, networking and IaC across security and governance domains.

The successful candidate will design and implement a foundational cloud platform, supporting migration of workloads and enabling later DevOps teams to onboard securely and efficiently.

Qualifications

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Google Cloud Foundation Engineer to help build a new Google Cloud platform within a large enterprise environment.

The initial objective is to establish a Google Cloud Foundation MVP that enables the adoption of Google Gemini alongside existing AI platforms. Beyond the MVP, the platform will evolve into an enterprise-grade cloud foundation that allows future DevOps teams to onboard efficiently while complying with enterprise security, governance and operational standards.

This role is ideal for a hands‑on cloud engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, cloud security, IAM, networking, and platform automation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a scalable Google Cloud Foundation.
• Build and automate foundational cloud services using Infrastructure as Code.
• Help establish cloud landing zone concepts, governance standards and operational processes.
• Support migration of existing workloads and use cases to Google Cloud.
• Collaborate with architects, security teams and platform stakeholders.

Security & Governance

• Implement enterprise security controls and governance standards.
• Contribute to threat modeling activities.
• Ensure compliance with security, encryption and access management requirements.
• Align cloud implementations with enterprise policies and standards.

Identity & Access Management

• Design and implement IAM solutions within GCP.
• Establish role-based access control (RBAC).
• Implement federated identity integrations.
• Apply least-privilege access principles across the platform.

Networking

• Design and implement Google Cloud networking solutions.
• Configure connectivity, networking policies and secure communication between environments.

Operations & Monitoring

• Implement logging, monitoring and observability capabilities.
• Integrate cloud monitoring with existing operational and security platforms.
• Support incident management and platform operations.
• Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis when required.
• Contribute to cloud cost management and governance processes.
• Support cost tracking, reporting and lifecycle management initiatives.
• Advise on operational models and cloud platform governance.

Required Experience

• Proven experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing and implementing cloud foundations, landing zones or shared cloud platforms.
