Job Description
As a Clinical Research Nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Trial Site (CTS), working closely with study physicians, nurses, researchers and support services. You will combine nursing care and direct contact with study participants with laboratory and administrative tasks. You will work within a team where the study coordinator helps organise and oversee the day-to-day activities of clinical studies.
What will you be doing?
- Together with the study team, you will monitor and follow up with participants in clinical studies, performing nursing procedures such as measuring vital signs, preparing and administering study medication (including vaccinations), and collecting biological samples.
- Depending on the study, you will also be willing to perform laboratory-related tasks, such as processing biological samples (e.g. centrifugation, aliquoting and PBMC isolation). Training will be provided where needed.
- You will assist with the practical preparation and follow-up of clinical studies, including scheduling appointments, managing study materials, recording and updating data in electronic databases, and coordinating sample transport.
- You will provide study participants with clear information about their participation and support them in completing electronic study diaries and other study-related documentation.
- You will work closely with the Clinical Trial Site team, including the principal investigator, study physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, pharmacy staff and the study coordinator.
- You will report to the Head of the Clinical Trial Site. Where needed, you may also support research projects at ITM's outpatient clinic as part of your role.
Your Profile
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- Experience in clinical trials and/or a valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate is an asset, but not a requirement. You will have the opportunity to obtain the necessary study-specific training and certifications during your onboarding.
- An IATA certificate or experience in processing biological samples is an additional asset.
- Experience in processing blood samples (including PBMC isolation) is considered an advantage.
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills and a patient-centred approach. You have a good command of Dutch and English (both written and spoken) and can also communicate in French.
- You are comfortable using digital tools and Microsoft Office and are eager to learn new study-specific software.
- You work accurately and discreetly, stay organised and remain calm when priorities change.
- You take initiative, work independently when appropriate and communicate with colleagues in a timely manner when needed.
- You treat study participants with respect, discretion and without prejudice, regardless of their background, beliefs or sexual orientation.
- You are a team player who enjoys working in a medical environment with a variety of tasks.
