Job summary

Nickel Belgium seeks a Chief Compliance Officer to lead compliance in Brussels, reporting to the global CCO. You will drive the local regulatory program, adapt group policies, and ensure effective controls across the Nickel Belgium branch.

You will manage investigations, suspicious activity reporting, and governance, while guiding staff on compliance topics and coordinating with regulators to support Nickel's responsible fintech growth.

Qualifications

• Around 8 years of experience in a regulated financial institution, with a prior internal control function.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance challenges, especially AML & FT.
• Fluent in French and English; Dutch can be convenient but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Nickel Belgium compliance with local regulatory requirements and Nickel policies.
• Adapt group compliance policies to Nickel Belgium specifics and regulatory requirements.
• Define annual compliance work plan and manage suspicious activity analyses and reporting.
• Provide guidance, training, and clear compliance reporting to management.
• Define governance within Nickel Belgium and represent Compliance in management committees.

About the Position

The position is based in Brussels and opened for September 2026. The Chief Compliance Officer for Nickel Belgium will be directly reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer of Nickel.

The Chief Compliance Officer of Nickel Belgium is primarily responsible for:

• Provide reasonable assurance to Nickel Chief Compliance Officer, Nickel Belgium management and regulators that adequate policies, procedures, and efficient compliance internal control measures are in place consistent with Nickel's Compliance requirements, characteristics, compliance risks, and in line with applicable laws and regulations;
• Establish standards and implement procedures to ensure that the compliance frameworks throughout the branch are effective and efficient in identifying, preventing, detecting, and correcting noncompliance;
• Oversee compliance within Nickel Belgium and ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements, Nickel policies and procedures.

Your main activities will be:

Expert activities

• Manage Nickel Belgium's relationship with local regulator;
• Adapt BNP Paribas & Nickel Compliance policies, procedures and control plans to Nickel Belgium specificities & local regulatory requirements;
• Define the annual compliance work plan that reflects the branch's characteristics & growth;
• Manage, review the analysis of suspicious activity alerts and decide on the transmission of suspicious activity reports to competent authorities;
• Take decisions as per delegation received on the scope of responsibilities and ensure documentation and tracking of decisions;
• Contribute to Compliance Risk Assessment Process, aggregate and report on CPL risks for Nickel Belgium;
• Provide recommendations for remediation of identified deficiencies, and collaborate with the business to follow up on timely remediation;
• Improve the Compliance permanent control process as necessary;
• Providing guidance, advice, and training on compliance topics for Nickel Belgium's staff and stakeholders;
• Preparing and presenting clear and concise compliance reports to the Nickel CPL and Nickel Belgium management.

Managerial scope

• Define appropriate governance and organisation within Nickel Belgium taking into account Nickel specificities and local regulations;
• Plan, organise, and execute day-to-day operational compliance activities;
• Roll-out objectives and validate annual priorities with input from Nickel Compliance;
• Represent Compliance Function in Nickel Belgium management committee;
• Contribute to Nickel Compliance reporting and Committee.

About You

• Around 8 years' experience in a regulated financial institution with at least a previous position within an internal control function;
• Understanding of sector environment;
• General knowledge of applicable regulatory framework;
• Extensive knowledge of Compliance issues and challenges specific to his/her environment, especially with regards to AML & FT;

Our remuneration package consists of a fixed salary and a bonus based on performance.
