Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Belgium seeks a Numerical Simulation Engineer to model, simulate, and analyze complex phenomena for defence and aerospace applications. You will work with CFD tools such as OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, and STAR-CCM+ to validate results against data and collaborate with R&D, design, and production teams.

A strong emphasis on multi-physics and FEM, including FSI, is required.

Qualifications

Master's or Engineering Degree in Fluid Mechanics, Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
3–5 years of experience in numerical simulation with a CFD focus in industrial or academic settings.
Proficient in at least one CFD software (OpenFOAM, ANSYS Fluent/CFX, or STAR-CCM+) with solid turbulence-model knowledge.
Experience or strong interest in multi-physics and FEM, including FSI and thermal-mechanical coupling.

Responsibilities

Modeling and analysing fluid flows for critical defence and aerospace applications using industry-standard tools.
Coupling physical phenomena such as fluid-structure interaction and thermal-mechanical coupling; performing FEM analyses for structural integrity.
Developing reduced-order models or hybrid methods to optimise system performance and using FE tools for static/dynamic analyses.
Automating workflows with Python scripting; leveraging HPC and collaborating with data science teams to integrate AI/ML into simulations.
Preparing technical reports, presentations, and specifications for project reviews and supporting wind tunnel or lab tests.
