OMP Belgium is seeking an Operations Research Developer to design optimization modules and (meta)heuristics for our supply chain software. You will participate in analysis, architectural design, programming and maintenance, owning your code and its outcomes.

You will build academic collaborations, support users, and work with developers and consultants to deliver robust mathematical models and solutions for customer applications.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a mathematical, scientific, computer science, or engineering field with a focus on operations research algorithms – PhD a definite advantage.
• Expert knowledge of mathematics and algorithms related to mathematical optimization techniques and heuristics.
• Knowledge of Simplex is required (implementation) for solving LP problems
• Branch-and-bound is a key technique for solving MIP problems
• Excellent knowledge and experience with modern C++.
• Pride in high-quality software and belief in combining techniques for best results
• Analytical, creative and strong mathematical mindset

Your Challenge

As an Operations Research Developer at OMP, your main focus is to analyze and develop mathematical optimization modules and (meta)heuristics that act as an optimization backbone for various application areas throughout our software. You’re key to guaranteeing OMP’s state-of-the-art supply chain planning and process optimization.

We believe in an integrated approach, where every team member is involved in all steps of the software development lifecycle: analysis, architectural design, programming, and maintenance. We expect you to be the proud owner of your code and take responsibility for it.

You are responsible for:

• Building a network with academics to apply the best new insights to our software, with performance being a key value in algorithmic design and implementation.
• Giving expert support to users of these modules, delivering them the right tools for the job.
• Collaborating closely with your fellow software developers, while communicating directly with our consultants who deploy our software in customer applications.
• Writing and debugging mathematical models and assisting in customer support, depending on your interest and qualifications.

About you

Essential talents and qualifications:

• A master’s degree in a mathematical, scientific, computer science, or engineering field with a focus on operations research algorithms - having a PhD in one of these fields is a definite advantage.
• Expert knowledge of mathematics and algorithms related to mathematical optimization techniques and heuristics.
• Knowledge of Simplex is required (implementation) for solving LP (linear programming) problems
• Branch-and-bound is one of the key techniques for solving MIP (mixed-integer programming) problems
• Excellent knowledge and experience with modern C++.
